HISTORY

Most of the maintenance companies in New Caledonia worked mainly with SLN, the only metallurgical plant on the Territory.
In 2006, a second nickel processing plant was created then a third one, leading to the arrival of new international companies. However, maintenance is a very specific sector.
That’s why some companies met and discussed solutions to become able to offer appropriate maintenance skills to the three international plants, so that all maintenance work would be done by local companies instead of the foreign ones in the future. In the meantime, the French State launched a call for projects to create company cluster ; the call for projects was launched locally by the South Province.

Thanks to these two events, after 8 months of discussion and the completion of an application file, AMD was born. It was certified at the end of 2010 and it began to answer the questions of C.E.Os concerned to protect the interests of local companies, thereby promoting the long-term maintenance sector interests of their country.

Their ambition ? To structure the maintenance sector in New Caledonia.

AMD’S GOALS AND MISSIONS

AMD cluster has written a global strategy on 4 main lines :
1. to know better the markets in order to adapt the offers
2. to work on human ressources in the maintenance sector and to improve skills
3. to create added values through innovation and technology
4. to focus on safety, quality, hygiene and environment to boost competitiveness

AMD’s actions are all created on these 4 lines and respect values such as cohesion, expertise, innovation and sharing.

However the maintenance sector is not limited to the metallurgical industry : it also operates in other sectors such as the food-processing industry, manufactured goods, the service sector or the building industry.

The French state financed AMD’s three first years of existence, as was planned in the call for projects, and it is now supported by the South and North Provinces regarding running costs, by the Governement of New Caledonia on specific projects, and of course by its members.
